ABOUT PRP / PRF TREATMENTS
PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and PRF (Platelet-Rich Fibrin) treatments use your own blood’s natural growth factors to stimulate collagen production, accelerate healing, and rejuvenate tissue.
These regenerative therapies are used for skin rejuvenation, hair restoration, scar improvement, and sexual wellness (O-Shot / P-Shot).
Because PRP/PRF is derived from your own blood, it’s extremely safe, natural, and biocompatible — but proper preparation and post-care are vital to ensure optimal healing and results.
PRE-TREATMENT CARE
1 Week Before Treatment
- Hydrate well — begin drinking at least 64 oz (2 liters) of water daily for several days prior to treatment.
Hydration significantly improves the quality and yield of your plasma. - Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements, unless prescribed:
- Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flaxseed oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, Vitamin E, and other essential fatty acids.
These can increase the risk of bruising or bleeding.
- Aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, ginkgo biloba, garlic, flaxseed oil, cod liver oil, fish oil, Vitamin E, and other essential fatty acids.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24–48 hours prior to treatment.
- Avoid smoking or nicotine products for at least 3 days before and after — nicotine constricts blood vessels and reduces platelet function.
- Avoid retinoids, acids, and exfoliants on treatment areas (if for skin) for 3–5 days before your appointment.
- If treating the scalp, wash your hair the night before or morning of your appointment — do not use hair products such as sprays, gels, or oils on the day of treatment.
- If you have a history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) and are receiving PRP/PRF to the face or lips, notify your provider. Antiviral prophylaxis (e.g., valacyclovir) may be prescribed.
Day of Appointment
- Eat a healthy meal before your visit — low blood sugar can increase lightheadedness during blood draw.
- Arrive with clean skin or scalp. No makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or hair products.
- Wear comfortable clothing and avoid restrictive necklines or hats if treating face or scalp.
- Avoid strenuous exercise immediately before your appointment.
- Let your provider know if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking blood thinners.
- Have active infection, rash, or inflammation in the treatment area.
- Have chronic medical conditions affecting healing (e.g., diabetes, autoimmune disorders).
POST-TREATMENT CARE
Immediately After Treatment
- Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or pinpoint bruising may occur and typically resolves within 24–72 hours.
- Do not touch, rub, or massage the treated area for at least 8 hours.
- Avoid makeup or skincare products (other than those recommended) for 12–24 hours.
- Do not wash your face or scalp for at least 6–8 hours post-procedure.
- You may apply cool compresses to minimize swelling or discomfort — avoid direct ice contact.
- Do not take NSAIDs (ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen) for at least 5 days after treatment, as they can interfere with the natural inflammatory and regenerative process.
- Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe to use if needed for discomfort.
First 24–48 Hours
- Avoid:
- Strenuous exercise or sweating
- Hot showers, saunas, or steam rooms
- Sun exposure or tanning
- Alcohol and smoking
- Keep the area clean and avoid touching or applying heavy creams or makeup.
- Redness and mild swelling will gradually subside.
If You Received PRP/PRF for Facial Rejuvenation (e.g., “Vampire Facial”)
- Mild peeling, dryness, or tightness may occur for several days.
- Cleanse gently with a mild cleanser and apply a hydrating, fragrance-free moisturizer.
- Avoid active skincare (retinol, acids, vitamin C, exfoliants) for 5–7 days.
- Do not pick or peel flaking skin.
- Always use SPF 50+ sunscreen when outdoors.
If You Received PRP/PRF for Hair Restoration
- Do not wash your hair for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, wash gently with a mild shampoo and cool or lukewarm water.
- Avoid hair dyes, chemical treatments, and heat styling for 72 hours post-procedure.
- Avoid wearing hats or tight headwear for 24 hours.
- Do not use topical minoxidil (Rogaine) or medicated scalp products for 3 days unless otherwise directed.
- Mild tenderness at injection sites is normal; use Tylenol if needed.
If You Received PRP/PRF for Sexual Wellness (O-Shot / P-Shot)
- Avoid sexual activity, hot tubs, and swimming for 48 hours.
- Expect mild soreness or spotting for 1–2 days.
- Keep the area clean and avoid friction or pressure until tenderness resolves.
- Do not apply creams or ointments unless directed by your provider.
- Results develop gradually over several weeks as collagen and vascularity increase.
RESULTS AND TREATMENT PLAN
- Results appear gradually as your body regenerates new collagen and tissue.
- Facial rejuvenation: visible glow and improved texture within 2–4 weeks; continued improvement for up to 3 months.
- Hair restoration: reduction in shedding after 1 month, new growth noticeable around 3–6 months.
- Intimate wellness: improved sensitivity and function in 4–6 weeks.
