ABOUT ALMA FEMILIFT™
FemiLift™ is a minimally invasive, non-surgical laser treatment that uses fractional CO₂ technology to rejuvenate vaginal tissue, restore elasticity, increase lubrication, and improve overall vaginal health.
It’s commonly used to address symptoms such as vaginal laxity, dryness, mild urinary incontinence, and post-childbirth or post-menopausal changes.
The treatment stimulates collagen remodeling and increased blood flow in the vaginal canal and external tissue (labia majora if treated).
FemiLift requires minimal downtime and typically involves a series of sessions for optimal results.
PRE-TREATMENT CARE
Before Your Appointment
- Schedule your treatment at least 5–7 days after your menstrual cycle ends and avoid booking during active menstruation.
- Refrain from sexual intercourse, vaginal creams, suppositories, or douching for 48 hours prior to treatment.
- Empty your bladder before your appointment for comfort during the procedure.
- Arrive freshly cleansed — shower or gently wash the vaginal area with mild soap and water.
- Avoid applying lotions, oils, or powders to the treatment area.
- Do not use internal lubricants or tampons on the day of treatment.
- If you have a history of recurrent vaginal infections or herpes simplex, inform your provider. Antiviral or antifungal medication may be prescribed as a preventive measure.
- If you’ve had pelvic surgery, active infection, IUD insertion, or abnormal Pap smear within the past 3 months, please inform your provider before proceeding.
- Avoid tanning or sun exposure in the genital area for 1 week prior to external FemiLift treatments.
Medications and Health Conditions
- Discontinue isotretinoin (Accutane) at least 6 months prior to treatment.
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen) for 5–7 days prior, unless prescribed.
- Antibiotics can increase skin sensitivity — consult your physician if currently taking one.
- Inform your provider if you:
- Are pregnant or breastfeeding
- Have an intrauterine device (IUD) or pelvic mesh
- Have any bleeding disorders or autoimmune diseases
- Have experienced pelvic pain, prolapse, or abnormal discharge recently
POST-TREATMENT CARE
Immediately After Treatment
- You may experience mild warmth, swelling, or sensitivity in the vaginal or vulvar area — this typically subsides within 24–48 hours.
- A mild watery discharge may occur for a few days as tissue renewal begins.
- Avoid touching, scratching, or applying products inside the vaginal canal for 48 hours.
- Do not douche, use tampons, or engage in sexual intercourse for 72 hours (3 days) post-treatment.
- Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear and avoid tight clothing or synthetic fabrics for 2–3 days.
- Use fragrance-free gentle cleansers and lukewarm water for hygiene; pat dry — do not rub.
- Avoid hot tubs, swimming pools, and saunas for at least 72 hours after treatment.
- You may apply a thin layer of Aquaphor or similar soothing barrier cream externally if irritation occurs.
First Week
- Continue to avoid:
- Sexual activity, tampons, or internal products for at least 3 days (longer if advised).
- Strenuous exercise or cycling for 3–5 days.
- Baths, steam, or any exposure to excessive heat for one week.
- Mild pink discharge or spotting is normal. If bleeding becomes heavy or accompanied by pain or odor, contact your provider.
- Use a gentle moisturizer or vaginal hydration gel (if recommended by your provider) once the initial healing phase has passed.
After One Week
- Normal daily activities, including sexual intercourse and exercise, can usually be resumed after 3–7 days, depending on comfort and healing.
- Continue good hydration and maintain a balanced diet to support tissue regeneration.
- Avoid irritants (fragranced soaps, wipes, tight clothing) for two weeks.
RESULTS AND TREATMENT PLAN
- Most patients notice improvement in vaginal tightness, lubrication, and sensation after the first session, with continued enhancement over several weeks as collagen remodeling occurs.
- For optimal outcomes:
- A series of 3 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended.
- Maintenance treatments once every 12–18 months help sustain results.
- Improvements in urinary control and vaginal health may continue for several months as new collagen develops.
