ABOUT SCAR REVISION WITH LaseMD™ + RF MICRONEEDLING

Scar Revision with LaseMD™ combined with RF Microneedling is an advanced, synergistic treatment designed to improve the appearance of acne scars, surgical scars, trauma scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin texture.

LaseMD™ is a non-ablative fractional laser that creates microchannels in the skin to stimulate collagen renewal and enhance absorption of regenerative topicals such as growth factors, exosomes, or PRP.

RF Microneedling delivers controlled radiofrequency energy deep into the dermis through insulated microneedles, promoting skin tightening, collagen remodeling, and scar softening from within.

Together, these technologies target both surface texture and deeper scar structure, resulting in smoother, firmer, and more even-looking skin. Proper pre- and post-care is essential to maximize results and ensure safe healing.

PRE-TREATMENT CARE

Before Your Appointment

  • Arrive 30 minutes early for topical numbing prior to treatment.
  • Arrive with clean skin — no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or skincare products on the treatment area.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the treated area.

1–2 Weeks Before Treatment

  • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray tans for at least 1–2 weeks prior.
  • Discontinue active skincare products for 7 days before treatment, including:
    • Retinoids or retinol
    • Benzoyl peroxide
    • Alpha/beta hydroxy acids (AHA/BHA)
    • Vitamin C serums
    • Chemical exfoliants or peels
  • Avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen for 7 days prior, unless medically necessary, as they may interfere with collagen formation.
  • Avoid blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo biloba) for 7 days if medically safe.
  • Avoid oral antibiotics for 1 week prior if possible, as some increase photosensitivity.
  • Discontinue isotretinoin (Accutane) for at least 6 months prior to treatment.

Medical History & Special Considerations

  • Inform your provider if you:
    • Are pregnant or breastfeeding
    • Have active acne, infection, or open wounds in the treatment area
    • Have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
    • Have a history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) — antiviral prophylaxis may be prescribed
  • Review all medications with your provider to assess for contraindications or photosensitivity.

Day of Appointment

  • Hydrate well and eat a light meal before your visit.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours prior.
  • Do not shave the treatment area the day of treatment (shave 24 hours prior if needed).
  • Inform your provider if you have had recent laser, microneedling, or chemical peel treatments within the past 2 weeks.

POST-TREATMENT CARE

Your skin will undergo controlled healing and collagen remodeling following treatment. Proper aftercare is critical for optimal results.

Immediately After Treatment

  • Redness, swelling, warmth, pinpoint bleeding, and sensitivity are normal.
  • Skin may feel tight or sunburned.
  • Cold compresses may be used intermittently (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off).
  • Do not touch, rub, or scratch the treated area.
  • Use only products provided or approved by your provider.

First 24–72 Hours

  • Cleanse gently with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water.
  • Pat dry — do not rub.
  • Apply a soothing moisturizer, barrier repair cream, or Aquaphor as instructed.
  • Avoid:
    • Makeup (until redness subsides)
    • Sun exposure
    • Hot showers, baths, saunas, or hot tubs
    • Intense exercise or sweating
  • Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24–48 hours to minimize inflammation.
  • Tylenol (acetaminophen) may be used for discomfort. Avoid NSAIDs unless prescribed.

Days 3–7: Healing & Microcrusting Phase

  • You may notice:
    • Mild roughness or dryness
    • Tiny dark dots or “sandpaper” texture (MENDS) from LaseMD™
    • Mild swelling or tenderness from RF Microneedling
  • This is normal and part of the healing process.
  • Do not pick, scrub, or exfoliate.
  • Continue gentle cleansing and moisturizing twice daily.
  • Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily (SPF 50+ preferred).

After 1 Week

  • Active skincare products (retinol, AHA/BHA, Vitamin C) may be resumed once skin is fully healed and sensitivity has resolved.
  • Avoid additional laser, RF, microneedling, or aggressive treatments for at least 2 weeks.
  • Continue diligent sun protection and hydration.

RESULTS AND TREATMENT PLAN

  • Initial improvement in skin texture may be seen within 1–2 weeks.
  • Progressive scar softening and remodeling continue over 4–12 weeks as collagen builds.
  • A series of 3–6 treatments, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, is typically recommended for optimal scar revision.
  • Maintenance treatments may be advised depending on scar type and severity.
