ABOUT LaseMD™
LaseMD™ is a non-ablative fractional laser designed to rejuvenate and resurface the skin by stimulating collagen production and improving texture, tone, and radiance.
It effectively treats fine lines, sun damage, pigmentation, acne scars, and uneven skin texture with minimal downtime.
This treatment creates microchannels in the skin, allowing for enhanced absorption of serums, exosomes, PRP, or other rejuvenating topicals applied during or after your session.
Proper preparation and aftercare will ensure the best results and a smooth recovery.
PRE-TREATMENT CARE
Before Your Appointment
- Arrive 30 minutes early for topical numbing prior to treatment.
- Arrive with a clean face — no makeup, lotion, sunscreen, or skincare products.
1–2 Weeks Before Treatment
- Avoid all tanning — including sun exposure, tanning beds, and spray tans — for at least 1 week prior.
- Avoid active skincare products for 1 week before treatment, including:
- Retinoids or retinol
- Benzoyl peroxide
- Alpha/beta hydroxy acids (AHA/BHA)
- Vitamin C serums
- Chemical exfoliants or peels
- Avoid anti-inflammatory medications such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen for 7 days before treatment, unless medically necessary.
- These may interfere with the natural healing and collagen formation process.
- Avoid oral antibiotics for 1 week prior to your treatment if possible, as some can increase light sensitivity.
- Discontinue isotretinoin (Accutane) for at least 6 months prior to your LaseMD procedure.
- If you have a history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores), please inform your provider — antiviral medication (e.g., valacyclovir) may be prescribed prior to treatment.
- Review all medications with your prescribing provider to determine if any are photosensitizing or contraindicated for laser therapy.
Day of Appointment
- Hydrate well and eat a light meal before your visit.
- Avoid wearing makeup, perfume, or heavy skincare products.
- Inform your provider if you:
- Are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have an active skin infection.
- Have had recent laser, microneedling, or peel treatments within the past 2 weeks.
POST-TREATMENT CARE
After LaseMD, your skin will undergo controlled healing that promotes new collagen production and resurfacing. Proper care is crucial for best results and minimizing side effects.
Immediately After Treatment
- You may notice mild redness, warmth, or swelling similar to a light sunburn; this typically resolves within 1–3 days.
- Cold compresses can be applied intermittently (10 minutes on, 10 minutes off) to reduce heat and swelling.
- Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the treated skin.
- If provided, use your LaseMD Aftercare Kit as instructed by your provider — this may include a specific serum, soothing cream, and sunscreen.
First 24–72 Hours
- Cleanse gently with a mild, fragrance-free cleanser and lukewarm water — not hot.
- Pat dry; do not rub or exfoliate.
- Apply a gentle moisturizer or Aquaphor/Cicaplast as recommended.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and heat, including:
- Hot baths or showers
- Saunas and hot tubs
- Intense exercise or sweating
- Cooking over open flames or exposure to excessive heat
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours to minimize inflammation.
- You may take Tylenol (acetaminophen) if you experience mild discomfort. Avoid NSAIDs unless prescribed.
Days 3–7: Healing and Microcrusting Phase
- You may notice tiny dark spots or roughness (MENDS: Microscopic Epidermal Necrotic Debris) that look like fine “coffee grounds” or sandpaper.
- This is normal and part of the skin renewal process.
- The microcrusting will naturally slough off over 5–7 days — do not pick or scrub.
- Continue using your gentle cleanser and moisturizer twice daily.
- Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily (SPF 50+ preferred) and reapply every 2 hours when outdoors.
- Avoid makeup until redness subsides and skin feels comfortable (typically 24–48 hours).
- If blistering, scabbing, or crusting occurs:
- Do not pop or pick blisters — they will drain naturally.
- Apply Aquaphor or other occlusive ointment to protect the skin barrier.
After 1 Week
- You may resume active skincare products (retinol, AHA/BHA, Vitamin C) once your skin has fully healed and no sensitivity remains (typically after 7 days).
- Continue daily sunscreen and gentle hydration to maintain results.
- Avoid harsh exfoliants, peels, or laser treatments for at least 2 weeks post-procedure.
RESULTS AND TREATMENT PLAN
- Your skin will begin to look smoother, brighter, and more radiant within a few days, with continued improvement over 4–6 weeks as new collagen develops.
- A series of 3–4 treatments spaced 4–6 weeks apart is typically recommended for best results.
- Maintenance treatments every 6–12 months help sustain collagen production and overall skin quality.
