What to Expect During Your Skin Resurfacing Treatment
When you visit Specialty Wellness in The Colony, Texas, our team of experts will first perform a thorough consultation to assess your skin type and concerns. Based on this, we will recommend the best treatment option for you—RF Microneedling or CO2 Laser.
- RF Microneedling: During the procedure, tiny microneedles will be used to create controlled micro-channels in your skin. Radiofrequency energy will then be delivered through these channels to stimulate collagen production and enhance skin tightening. The treatment is relatively comfortable, and a topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to minimize discomfort.
- CO2 Laser: The CO2 Laser will be used to treat deeper layers of your skin. The laser energy will remove damaged skin cells and promote collagen production. This procedure is slightly more intensive, and we apply numbing cream to ensure comfort. After treatment, your skin may appear red or swollen, similar to a mild sunburn.

RF Microneedling has minimal downtime. You may experience slight redness, similar to a mild sunburn, which resolves within 24 hours. For CO2 Laser, recovery is a bit longer, with redness and peeling lasting 5 to 7 days. We’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure optimal healing.
Most patients find RF Microneedling relatively comfortable with the application of numbing cream. CO2 Laser treatment is more intensive, but we also use numbing agents to minimize discomfort. You may feel a mild burning sensation during the procedure, but it’s generally well tolerated.
With RF Microneedling, results start to appear within 2 to 3 weeks as collagen production increases. CO2 Laser results become visible within a few weeks, with final results taking 3 to 6 months as your skin continues to heal and regenerate.
